I always have approx. 200-250g serving, which gives a whopping 20-25g of protein!
I make my own berry compote; buy some frozen blueberries, raspberries, cherries – whatever fruits you love – and stew them in a pan for about 10-15 minutes. Optional extra is to add a little sweetener, honey, maple syrup etc. to sweeten the fruit to desired taste. I store the fruit mixture in an airtight container in the fridge and it lasts me about one week.
In a separate pan, melt some butter and again if desired some sweetener, add the oats and keep mixing them round so they don’t burn. I usually fry them for about 10 minutes, but this is dependent on pan, cooker etc. so play by ear. Again I store a week's worth of granola in an air tight container.
Taking my yogurt serving (again optional extra to add sweetener) – I put in a jar and layer up with the pre-made berry compote and granola. Having the fruit and granola already made and in tubs makes the whole breakfast feel nice and easy to put together – it’s time efficient, super high in protein, very filling and overall a big bowl of goodness to start your day!
If you track calories – a 200-250g serving of yogurt is approximately 125 – 150 calories. Obviously then add on any fruit (approx. 40 ish calories), oats (depending on portion size – 20g would be 80ish calories (if fried in a little butter), and sweetener like honey (20 grams would be 60 ish). Total calorie content approximately 330 calories and 25g protein.
